The Whiskey Wrangler Mercantile (Amanda Minick-owner) is opening its new location at 613 Main Street downtown Brookville in Franklin County. The store has been beautifully renovated by Restored By Wards and pays homage to historicity of location by incorporating paint colors and restored hardwood floors. In the early 1900s, 613 Main Street was the original studio of the talented photographer Ben Winans, who created thousands of glass-plate negatives of life and cultural happenings in Brookville. In this spirit, The Whiskey Wrangler seeks to produce a vibe that is vintage, antique, and Old West all mixed into one.

Minick is passionate about fashion and has been designing and “up-cycling” clothing since the age of 12. After studying Apparel Merchandising at Indiana University, she worked at the Tailored Fit in Bloomington before spending eight years at Nordstrom as a seamstress. These experiences have been invaluable as Amanda strives to replicate the tremendous standard of customer service she helped sustain with both companies. In short, Amanda prioritizes her customers' needs by always being receptive to feedback and by offering a shopping experience that is both memorable and unique. As a specific example, The Whiskey Wrangler plans to offer complimentary hems on basic denim and dresses/skirts.

The Whiskey Wrangler was a brand before it became a brick-and-mortar shop. The business was created in 2017 and featured graphic tees that Amanda designed along with distressed flannels. Before long, The Whiskey Wrangler brand had found its way into over 500 boutiques and farm/ranch stores (including a store in Australia). The year 2018 saw the opening of a storefront in Wyoming—hence the wild west/rodeo inspiration—and continued to sell wholesale. As Amanda recently moved back to Indiana and calls Franklin County her home, what better time to open a shop?

The Whiskey Wrangler sells women’s clothing and accessories along with gifts at affordable prices. Although the brand/shop is heavy on western/rodeo styles, the new location will have a variety of styles perfect for everyday wear and some items specifically curated for men. Many of the items carried are also made by small businesses. Top sellers include car freshies (adorable shaped car air fresheners handmade in Texas) and distressed flannels made in-house. Amanda’s personal favorites include: Mixologie roll-on perfumes, Poppy + Pout cosmetics, and hand-made jewelry by ASTALI. The Whiskey Wrangler is also bringing in an exciting new candle line (Dixie Grace out of Illinois) with unique scents like “Watermelon Moonshine,” “Outlaw,” “Harvest Moon,” and “Sweet Tea + Whiskey.”

The website, the whiskeywranglermercantile.com, will offer the same items carried in-store. As most of the Amanda’s time and energy has been dedicated to the physical store’s opening, the website is currently a work in progress. Being said, once the store is up and running it is only a matter of time before the website will be populated with the very same beautiful products. Purchases made online can be picked-up curbside if need be. The Whiskey Wrangler also has a “VIP” Facebook group featuring live sales and special offers to access brand new merchandise.

Amanda’s personal goal with opening the store is to offer unique items at good price points and for our customers to have fun while shopping. You can grab a cute graphic tee, something cute for date night, or a last-minute gift. In the future, Amanda is looking forward to hosting events, collaborating with other local businesses, and being involved in the community.

"The Whiskey Wrangler seems to have its own vibe. Is this contingent with how you see merch and designs?" asks Whitewater Publications.

"Absolutely! When opening a store, I feel like the store itself should also feel like a brand. Owning a store to me is like having a second home—my happy place to create and meet new people—and I can’t wait for everyone to stop by," states The Wrangler.

Plan is to open the store in mid-August (follow their Facebook page for more details) with goody bags, snacks, and give-aways at the grand opening event.
