Brookville’s Main Street becomes nationally accredited main street

On March 2, Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) announced Brookville's Main Street is a Nationally Accredited Main Street. Receiving the accreditation will provide Main Street Brookville (MSB) with additional tools to enhance Brookville's Main Street.
"Being the smallest Indiana community to be designated a Nationally Accredited Main Street speaks to the big heart of Franklin County," shared MSB President Brian Noah. "We have a group of people who continue to grow daily and want to see this town thrive. No matter the political climate, nationally or locally, people from both parties join together with our Main Street organization to lift us up. We truly couldn't have done it alone."
MSB applied for accreditation through the Indiana Main Street Program, which aims to help communities in Indiana with their downtown revitalization efforts. Indiana Main Street encourages economic development, redevelopment and improvement of downtown areas of Indiana cities and towns.
The Indiana Main Street Program Levels are:
•Nationally Accredited Main Street (NAMS)
•Indiana Accredited Main Street (IAMS)
•OCRA's Downtown Affiliate Network (ODAN)
To become a Nationally Accredited Main Street, MSB put in a substantial amount of effort and demonstrated the utilization of the "Main Street Approach," which offers community-based revitalization initiatives with a practical, adaptable framework for downtown transformation that is easily tailored to local conditions.
“Hoosier Main Street communities gain resources, tools and opportunities from our state program, helping fuel their economic development and enhancing their downtown districts," said Executive Director Denny Spinner. “I am eager to see all they accomplish through their new designations.”
In light of the announcement, MSB will be provided:
•A formal certificate
•Access to Main Street America and Indiana Main Street training
•Networking opportunities with other regional and statewide programs
•A resource toolbox unique to their needs
