If you have a teenager at home who is eager to start driving, driver education is worth strongly considering.  There are numerous benefits to having your teen take driver’s ed.  For example, many car insurance companies offer discounts for teens who have successfully completed a driver’s education course. This discount can be as high as 25%!  Studies show that drivers who have completed hands-on training programs also have a greater grasp on the basics:  mechanical knowledge about vehicles, rules of the road, drug and alcohol awareness, and overall driving confidence.   Locally, the Bee-Safe Driving School has been providing driver education classes to students in Franklin, Union, and Fayette counties since former owner Steve Wewe opened its doors in August 2005 in Brookville at 290 Webers Lane.  In 2015, they expanded to Liberty and then to Connersville in 2019, providing classroom locations to better serve the students in the Union and Fayette County school districts. The Connersville location is 832 North Eastern Avenue in the BAM Fitness center and the Liberty location is 1524 S. US HWY 27 in the J&S Mechanical building.

In June 2022, the driving school was purchased by Assistant Chief of Police Michael Strait and Sergeant Samuel Williams, both of whom are with the Brookville Police Department. Together they bring over 15 years of emergency vehicle operation experience and training to the driving school. Assistant Chief Strait and Sgt. Williams are excited to continue providing a quality driver education program to all of Bee-Safe’s future students. Strait writes, “We pride ourselves on our flexibility with our students' needs by scheduling driving times around their busy schedules. We have several in person classes at our physical locations throughout the year and offer an online class option students can access year-round. Brookville in-person classes take place in March, June, September, and December. Connersville in-person classes take place in January, May, and August. Liberty in-person classes take place in February, June, and October. All Bee-Safe instructors are employed or retired teachers in the local school districts or police officers.”  For more information on Bee-Safe Driving School, visit our website bee-safedrivingschool.com and follow us on Facebook.
