The Grove in College Corner has a new playground, just in time for Summer! Olivia Chewning with Union County Special Projects is one of many who have put a massive amount of time and energy into making this happen, and happily reports that the equipment is now ready for use. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on June 13 at 11:30 a.m., just as Play in the Park kids return from their field trip. (Rain date: 6/15 at 11:30). Feel free to enjoy the new space now, however, and stay tuned for more about this lovely upgrade and the folks who worked so hard to make it happen. This was a genuine example of a town coming together and making needed improvements to the community. With special thanks to the West College Corner Town Council, Union County Foundation, College Corner Community Club, WCC Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Post 122, Whitewater Valley REMC, Butler Rural Electric Cooperative, Elleman Electrical, Oxford Cabinet Co., Maddock Trucking, Speedy Septic Service, Kettler MotorWerks, Her Blossoms Flower Farm, Bath State Bank, and Ross Outdoor. It truly takes a village! Upcoming events at the Grove include Play in the Park, a free program for kids grades K-6 which begins Tuesday, June 6 and promises a summer full of activities. And don’t forget to join in the annual July 4th festivities beginning with a 4:00 parade that leads from the school to the Grove and includes vendors, concessions, live music, relay races, an old timer’s game, and loads of activities for all ages.
