Herman Wayne Lewis

Reverend Herman Wayne Lewis, 91, of Brookville, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.

The son of George Dewey and Beatrice C. Blevins Lewis, Wayne was born in Connersville on December 31, 1932 and received his Bachelor of Science in Theology from Baptist Bible College of Springfield, Missouri in 1980.

On January 29, 1955, Wayne married the former Emily McDermott in Laurel.  Mrs. Lewis passed away on August 28, 2016.

Wayne served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, receiving his honorable discharge in 1953.

Wayne was employed as an over the road truck driver for many years. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing. Watching Cincinnati Reds baseball, Bengals football, and I.U basketball, as well as watching Western movies.

Wayne served the Lord, faithfully for many years, pastoring several churches in the area ministering to many people in the area and was always available to help others in need. He was a member of the Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. 

Survivors include three children, Michael (Paula) Lewis of Connersville, Terri (Trev) Bishop of Brookville, and Jerri (Andrew) Harnishfeger of Brookville; a brother, Harvey “Jake' Lewis of Connersville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his wife of 61 years, Emily Lewis, Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Beverly M. Lewis and Sheri Yingst; and 11 siblings. 

Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home.  Pastor Michael Coyle will officiate.  Burial with military honors will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
