Garlin E. Bryant, age 97, of Liberty, passed away on Monday November 20, 2023 at Whitewater Commons surrounded by his loving family. Garlin was born on October 4, 1926, in Russell Springs, Kentucky to the late Dallas and Onie Mae Wilson Bryant.

Garlin served in the United States Marine Corps from 1945 to 1947, during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Garlin married the love of his life, Mildred Lorene Root Bryant, and together they relocated to Indiana. They married on January 28, 1948 in London, Kentucky, and were blessed with four children. Garlin and Mildred attended Union County Church of Christ, until his health prevented his attendance.

Garlin started his working life as a law enforcement officer in Cincinnati, OH. He eventually relocated his family to Indiana where he went to work at NATCO and operated the family farm.  Later, he went to work at Alcoa in Richmond, where he was a tool and die maker when he retired in 1986. Garlin wasn't afraid of work and would do anything he needed to make sure his family was taken care of. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing. He was also a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Along with his wife of 75 years, Garlin is survived by his children; Donna (David) Chapman, Linda (Bob) Teeguarden, Barry (Ruth) Bryant and a son-in-law Don Chapman. He will missed by his brother Alva (Elizabeth) Bryant. His memories will be cherished by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelley Chapman, and a sister, Evie Bryant.

Friends and Family gathered at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home located at 310 N Main Street, Liberty, Indiana  47353, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. A service officiated by Rocco Lucari began at 1:00pm.
