Wayne Evans

Wayne Evans, 66, a long time Rush County area resident, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2023. Wayne was born March 30, 1957 at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Ill. to Billy J. & Clara P. (Dishong) Evans. He spent his early life moving wherever his father's military career took them. They spent time in Europe and eventually settled in Rush County in 1972. Wayne was a 1975 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. He married Nancy Gayle Nichols on May 14, 2005 and she survives.
Wayne was a master builder. He built custom homes for families, mostly in Fayette County. He was very particular with his craft and could practically build or do anything. He had his CDL, was a heating & cooling specialist and received his Technical type universal certificate in 1993. He loved woodworking and was the son of a carpenter.
He was a devoted member of the Glenwood Church of Christ.
He will be missed by his wife, Nancy, of Glenwood, his mother, Pauline Evans of Rushville, his beloved Doberman, Sadie, brother, Gary Evans of Rushville and his children, Jerry Lee (Miranda) Evans and Scott (Brandy) Evans, brother, James (Shauna) Evans of Greensburg and their children, Justice (Nicholas) Lee, Karissa, Hailey, Isiah, James and Joshua Evans, a sister, Mary Ann (Mike) Phillips of Wichita Falls, Texas and their children, Bradley (Jennifer) Phillips and Sarah (Colton) Wheeler, 11 great-nieces and nephews also survive. Wayne was preceded in death by his father.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor David Bonne presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family in the mortuary from 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 6. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery.
