Judith Whipple

Judith Whipple passed away on October 4, 2023, at the age of 83, at Heritage House in Connersville.  Judith was born in Milton, I on July 14, 1940, the daughter of the late Francis Lafe Custer and Dorthea Joan Carlin Custer.  

She graduated from Cambridge City High School in 1959.  While roller skating at the Cambridge City Roller Rink, she met the love of her life, Earl Whipple.  They were married at the Cambridge City Christian Church on November 22, 1959.  Judith and Earl shared 63 years together prior to her death and were blessed with two children.

In her younger years, she was a server at the Coffee Pot restaurant, worked at Alco Aluminum in Richmond and retired after 18 years from GTE.  After retirement, she worked with Earl at Luckett Upholstery as his secretary for 20+ years.  She was a member of the New Heights Church of Christ where she served on the funeral dinner committee.  She was also a 20-year member of the Connersville Lions Club.  Judith loved to cook, go camping, dancing, doing word search puzzles and taking pictures.  She lived a simple life with her greatest treasure being spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

In addition to her husband Earl, those she has left behind to cherish her love and memory include her children, Jeffrey Whipple and Julie (Tim) Bennett; grandchildren Timothy M. Bennett, Brandi N. Bennett, Holden A. (Kensey Steele) Bennett , and Logan S. Bennett; great-grandchildren, Paige, Brianna, Brayden, Trenton, Brailen, Corbin and Tegan Bennett and Addison Steele.  She will be thought of often by her niece, Melanie (Shane) Mosier; brother-in-law, Charlie Conway; and half-sisters, Linda Lantz Thatcher and Lovina Lantz Edwards as well as several other half-siblings.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Conway; half-sister Lorrean Lantz Nelson and her foster parents, Bob and Jane Farringer and Charlie and Florence Hurst.

Friends and family may gather on Friday October 13, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Urban Winkler Funeral Home, 513 W 8th Street.  Fellow Lions Club members may gather at 6:00 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 10:00 am with Dallas “Rico” Bennett officiating.  Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
