The Lions' boys tennis team (6-8) hosted Waldron and traveled to Lawrenceburg recently. The racquet men gained a 3-2 conference victory over LHS with a sweep of the singles positions but were shut out by the Mohawks 5-0.

Mason Mosburg defeated Lawrenceburg at #3 singles in two sets, 6-2, 6-0, though taking a 6-0, 6-1 defeat vs. Waldron. Likewise #2 singles Clayton Chase defeated LHS in two sets 6-4, 6-2 but took a 6-0, 6-1 setback to the 'Hawks. At #1 singles, the deciding 3.5-hour match between Josh Wainwright and LHS' Safaviyan was played under the lights with Wainwright winning the marathon 7-6, 4-6, 7-6. Josh lost to Waldron's Lucas Shaw 6-2, 6-1.

At #1 doubles Wesley Mauzy/Edgar Fernandez lost to the Tigers 0-6, 4-6. Mauzy and Lucas Vaughn fell to WHS 6-0, 6-2. At #2 doubles Aiden Philpot/Jacob Schwendenman lost a close EIAC match 4-6, 4-6 while Fernandez and Philpot were shut out vs. Waldron.

Lions traveled to New Castle Thursday and fell to the Trojans, 5-0.

Joshua was defeated by Matt Hastings in a super tiebreak for the third set with scores of 6-4, 4-6, 6-10. Chase was defeated by Caden Blackford in two sets 2-6, 1-6. Mosburg was defeated by Austin Nunez in two sets 1-6, 0-6.

The #1 team of Mauzy/Vaughn was defeated by the duo of Jacob Jenkins/Drew Coy in two sets 0-6, 2-6. The #2 team of Fernandez/Philpot fell to Matthew Harper/Leo Underhill in two sets 0-6, 1-6.

JV also fell to the Trojans 3-0. The doubles team of Lucas Winters/Schwendenman played a competitive match but eventually fell 3-8.

The Lions took 2nd place in their invitational Saturday behind Cambridge City Lincoln.

Rushville lost to the Golden Eagles 4-1 but beat Union County 3-2 and Tri 4-1. Wainwright claimed the No. 1 singles flight thanks to a pair of straight-setters and 3-set marathon over Lincoln's Seth Ingalls.

Chase went 2-1, winning a 3-setter over Tri's Parker Robertson. Mosburg was also 2-1 with a default win and straight-setter over Tri. Mauzy/Vaughn couldn't pick up a set in three tries at 1 doubles. Fernandez/Philpot got one straight-set win over Tri.
