Oldenburg girls soccer started a busy week with an impressive 8-1 victory over South Ripley Sept. 5. It was quickly 8-0 by the midpoint. Freshman Claire Niese booted in four goals – she would add four more two nights later at Rushville – and Isabel Price added two to the total; Jayne Lamping and Addisyn Lambert were other success shots. Assists went to Sadie Wachsmann, Lambert and Niese. Ellie Ryan had 2 saves in goal.
The Lions presented no challenge to OA as Bridget Lohmueller began the 12-0 rout with a goal in the first four minutes of play. Niese banged another off the keeper's foot, then made it 3-0 with a penalty kick off a handball in the box. The frosh picked up two more before the 22:33 mark of the first. Lambert got a deflection off the crossbar to make it 6-0. Freshman Olivia Leising then got in on the action with a goal. Wachsmann made it 9-0 at 13:42. Lambert, freshman Belle Young, senior Rachel Lamping and Norah Haverkos completed the offensive whirlwind. Ninth grader Madison Hamilton led in assists with 2 as Leising, Emily Schebler, Bridgette Ehrhard, Wachsmann, Lambert and freshman Ellie Paul each had 1. Ryan saved 4 shots.
Visiting Heritage Christian was a 5-2 winner Saturday, breaking open a 1-1 game at the break with four second-half goals. Five different Eagles scored while Niese and Wachsmann did the work for OA.
OA soundly defeated Jennings County Monday, 6-0. Youngsters Niese and Leising each scored twice. R. Lamping and Hamilton had the other goals. Leising and Lohmueller were assist persons.
