Twister boys suffer first defeat

Oldenburg Academy boys soccer team tasted defeat for the first time in 2023 with Saturday's 2-1 loss at Seymour. This after an 8-0 blowout of South Ripley last Tuesday.

Against SR, OA had a hefty 5-0 lead by halftime. Hayden Blair, Thomas Lohmueller and freshman Adam Weber all scored twice in the shutout. Frosh Conner Holder and senior Jacob Cornelius rounded out scoring. Zachary Hoff assisted on three goals; Weber, Jacob Hilbert, Angus Lonergan and Alex Matacia had single assists. Goalie Isaiah Waggoner needed to save just one shot at the target.

Versus Seymour, Weber scored OA's goal assisted by Goose Geis. Waggoner collected 10 saves.

OA (9-1) defeated Rising Sun 4-0 Monday. Holder scored in period 1 at 12:03 on a shot from 8 yards. Lohmueller scored in period 2 at 33:02 on a shot in the 6-yard box assisted by Cornelius. Weber scored in period 2 at 26:46 on a rebound and shot in the 6-yard box - assisted by Blair's shot that was blocked. Holder scored in period 2 at 20:41 on another shot in the 6-yard box assisted by a pass from Henry Wanstrath.

The Twisters had 33 shots with 13 on goal, 2 offsides, 6 fouls, 1 yellow card for Waggoner for jumping to block a throw in, 4 steals, 8 corner kicks and 2 saves.
