Earl Deane Evans, 76, of Glenwood passed away Sunday evening September 17, 2023 at The Willows, Greensburg.
One of six children of Arthur and Jessie Gabbard Evans, Deane was born in Batesville on December 17, 1946 and graduated from Harrisburg High School with the class of 1967.
Deane served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam where he drove a semi-truck carrying bridge material. During one mission, his truck was the target of a bomb and with the help of sandbags in the cab he survived with just the loss of his hearing.
On July 10, 1993, Deane married the former Drusilla Bingaman in Glenwood. Mrs. Evans survives.
Deane was employed at Visteon in Connersville for 30 years before his retirement.
In his leisure time, Deane enjoyed chopping wood for his outdoor wood furnace, going out to eat, and visiting with others.
Besides his wife of 30 years, Drue, survivors include two children, Deana (John) Jackson and Becky Combs, all of Brookville; five grandchildren Haley Day, Lindsey Day, Tori Jackson, Harlee Combs, Kayla Combs; a great grandson, Zander Combs; and three siblings, Gary Evans, Rick Evans, Sue Burgoon.
Deane was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joyce Bishop; and a brother, Danny Evans.
Family and friends visited until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Lonny Goen will officiate. Burial with military honors followed in Zion Cemetery, Raleigh, Indiana.
