Ardella Redmon

Ardella Redmon, age 99, of Brookville died early Friday April 5, 2024 at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.

Born February 26, 1925 in Letcher County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lizzie (Davis) Lewis.

Ardella was a homemaker, raising her children and then several other family members as her own.  In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards, Chinese checkers, and going to yard sales; but what she cherished most was her family.  

Survivors include four children, Wanda Reese of Brookville, James R. Maggard of Hamilton, Ohio, Dewey Calihan of Brookville and Belinda Calihan of St. Petersburg, Florida; seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren; as well as one brother, Darrell (Joan) Lewis of West College Corner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Clyde Calihan, John Hart and John Redmon; a daughter, Dorena Kay Bristow, a granddaughter, Rebecca (Reese) Retherford, a great-grandson, Josh Bristow, as well as three sisters and one brother.

Family and friends visited on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10066 Oxford Pike, Brookville.

Randy Edwards and Pastor Kevin Waltz officiated the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Brookville.  Burial followed in Scipio Union Cemetery in Okeana, Ohio where her great-grandsons, Nicholas Retherford, Zachary Sanders, Dalton Childers, Brady Logan, Jon Calihan and Keith Taulbee served as pallbearers.
