Marcia Kay Ellis

Marcia Kay (Weidner) Ellis, 86, of Rush County, passed away April 23, 2024 at her home in Rushville. She was born January 20, 1938 in Rush County to Louella (Mann) Weidner and Woodrow Weidner. Marcia was raised by Louella Weidner Elder and Carl E. Elder. She attended Manilla High School. Marcia married Clyde M. Ellis January 25, 1954 and he preceded her in death on November 22, 2020. She was a stay at home mom until their children were out of school. At that time, Marcia and Clyde bought interest in Guns and Tackle Gunshop in Greensburg; Marcia worked there for over 20 years until she retired. She was a member of Homer Christian Church. 

Marcia was also involved in Eastern Star, Eagles, American Legion and V.F.W. for over 40 years. When she lived in Homer she was a member of Gab Garb and Glamour Home EC Club and the Girls Scouts as a leader of Brownies. When they moved from Homer, they decided to build a house on the farm they owned which was a Hoosier Homestead that had been in Marcia’s family since October 20, 1820.

Marcia is survived by her four children, Rickie Lynn (Sharon) Ellis, Bruce Wayne (Sandy) Ellis, Cinda Kay (John) Pavey and Karen Faye (Mark) Harpring. She will also be missed by her 12 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. 

Marcia is preceded in death by her parents and husband. 

Services were held on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 1 p.m. in Moster Mortuary, with Pastor John Wall presiding. Friends visited the family until the time of service in the mortuary. Burial was held in Goddard Cemetery.
