Claude Roberts, age 80, of Laurel went home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Heritage House of Connersville.

Born July 5, 1944 in Franklin County he was the son of the late Nealie and Mabel (Hughes) Roberts.  He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army.  On May 6, 1968 he and the former Donna Jo Creech were united in marriage and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2009.       

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was retired from Batesville Casket Co., where he had worked for over 15 years.  In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and being outdoors.

Survivors include two children, Tom (Kimberly) Roberts of Connersville and Misty Fisher of Las Vegas; three grandchildren, Kaitlynn Orr, Ethan Roberts, Elise Roberts; three great-grandchildren;  two sisters, Margaret (Tom) Creech of Greensburg; Nancy Mullins of Brookville; two brothers, David (Hazel) Roberts of Batesville and Rufus Roberts of Greensburg.

Besides his parents and wife, Donna, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Teresa Thomas, Betty Thomas, Dorothy McDaniel; four brothers, Paul Roberts, John Roberts Sr., Marvin Roberts and Daniel Roberts.

Family and friends visited Friday, August 2, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, IN.

Rev. Paul Frederick, pastor of First Baptist Church of Laurel, officiated the funeral service at 12:00 noon, Friday August 2, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.  Burial with full military graveside honors by the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

Memorial contributions may be directed to First Baptist Church of Laurel.
