Donald E. Dawson, 93, a lifelong Rushville resident, passed away August 12, 2024 in Rushville. He was born June 24, 1931 in Rushville to Theron Ples and Delphia Caroline (Gardner) Dawson. Don graduated from Manilla High School and served his country in the US Air Force. He married Glenna June Jenkins on December 16, 1950 and she survives.

Don began Dawson Oil Company in 1967 in Rushville.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushville and was very active in his community!

He will be missed by his wife, June of Rushville, son, Charlie Dawson (Nancy Schuntz) of Cumberland, daughters, Chris (Doug) Laker and Melinda Weidner all of Rushville, grandchildren, Jackie (Aaron) Rhodes, Travis (Susan) Koors, Jamie Weidner, Morgan (Brandon) Hoover, Jan (Brett) Norris and Noah Dawson and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Theron Ples Dawson, Jr. and son-in-law, Sam Weidner.

Don’s request was to have no services or “Fluff” as he called it...

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Rush County Community Foundation, Rush Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Rush County Victim’s Assistance-Phoenix House.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Waters for all their compassion and care.
