Marvin Ferkinhoff

Marvin Joseph Ferkinhoff, of Brookville, was born on July 1, 1947, in Batesville, a son to Joseph Alphonse and Seraphine Schulte Ferkinhoff.  He graduated from Batesville High School and later the University of Cincinnati.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran.  Marvin married Carol Ann Rosenberger on July 15, 1972, at St. Michael Catholic Church and she survives.  He owned his own insurance agency in Brookville for over 30 years and was affectionately known as the mayor of Main Street.  Marvin was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Brookville American Legion, Brookville VFW and was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Marvin enjoyed golfing and playing cards, was passionate about the Reds and Bengals and loved spending time with his grandkids.  On Tuesday, August 13, at the age of 77, he passed away unexpectedly at his residence.

Those surviving who will cherish Marvin’s memory include his wife of 52 years, Carol Ferkinhoff; children, Carrie (Kevin) DeFossett, Aaron (Anica) Ferkinhoff and Adam (Gina) Ferkinhoff; six grandchildren, Tyus, Mykaela, Colin, Cole, Clay and Peter; sister, Donna Schutte and brother-in-law Jim Dietz.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth; siblings, Mary Catherine and Jim Tekulve, Daniel and wife Rita Ferkinhoff, Jo Ellen Dietz, Cliff and Delores Ferkinhoff and brother-in-law, Bob Schutte.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4 until 7 p.m. with Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.  Father Vincent Lampert will officiate the Mass on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church and burial will follow at a later date.
