James N. Stewart, Sr.

James N. Stewart, Sr. 85 of Rush County, passed away December 2, 2024 at his home. He was born December 4, 1938 in Rush County to the late Harold and Katherine (Gallimore) Stewart. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Mays High School. He married the love of his life, Mildred (Bow) Stewart on December 27, 1958 and she survives. Jim farmed all of his life in Rush County with his family. He was a lifetime member of Center Christian Church. Jim enjoyed watching tractor pulls and collecting antique tractors. 

In addition to his wife, Mildred, he is survived by his children, Louanne Klagiss of Indianapolis, Monica (John) Douglas of Flat Rock and James (Anita) Stewart, Jr. of Rush County. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Megan Showalter, Michelle (Drew) Korporal, James Stewart III, Jacob Stewart, as well as Stewart, Madeline and Parker Douglas; great-grandchildren, Sophia Elizabeth Inez Daugherty, Tara Louanne Showalter, Connor Showalter, Poppy Showalter, Amelia Korporal and AJ Korporal. 

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Raymond Klagiss. 

Services were held Friday, December 6, 2024 at noon in Center Christian Church with Pastor Darryl Denney presiding. Friends visited the family until the time of service in the church on Friday. Burial was held in East Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Center Christian Church in memory of Jim.
