December 10, 2024 at 3:54 p.m.
On the morning of December 6, 2024, the unstoppable spirit of Janice Halloran came to rest while in the care of Hospice of Hamilton, ending her 6-year journey with cancer at the age of 86. Preceded in death by her brother, Jay Wehr, she leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Barry Halloran, three children, Denise Bolser (Steve), Diana Paxton, and David Paxton (Angela), two stepchildren, Ryan Halloran (Jill) and Jon Halloran (Nita), 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, sister-in-law Jean Wehr, stepbrother Mike Ramsey (Barbra), nieces, nephews, and “cousins by the dozens’.
Born in Whitcomb on April 2, 1938 to Maurice and June (Dorrel) Wehr, Janice June Wehr lived nearly her entire life on a farm in Union County. A 1956 graduate of Union High School in College Corner, she attended Miami University until her marriage to Kirk Paxton on June 14, 1958. Following stays at Fort Ritchie, Md. while Kirk served with the Army, and in New Lebanon, Ohio, Janice and her family moved back to Union County in 1967, where they built a house on the family farm where she had grown up and there she resided until her death.
Janice was a mother, an entrepreneur, an avid golfer and an accomplished seamstress, to name but a few of her many talents. She excelled at creating community by combining family, friends and farm life through the Community Club, 4-H, the Bonner Busy Bees, and Liberty Country Club. She was a bookkeeper for University Ford and Redpath Implement, was coowner of JanSue Cake Decorating, and owner of The House Of Monograms which was then purchased by Capital Varsity in Oxford, Ohio where she continued to work until her retirement. Active in the community, she made and altered wedding gowns, did costume work with Richmond Civic Theater and worked with 4-H as a leader and judge. She actively participated in the LLGA and the Liberty Lassies through Liberty Country Club and extended this golf community into Florida, in the Betmar Community of Zephyrhills, Florida. She accomplished all of this while tirelessly supporting her children and their growing families.
Please join her family for a celebration of her life on December 21, 2024, from 2pm to 6pm, at the Liberty Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Union County Cancer Association or the Liberty Ladies Golf Association (LLGA).
