Jeffery Lee Marcum

December 11, 2024 at 1:34 p.m.

Jeffery Lee Marcum, 63 of Liberty passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was born on July 14, 1961, in Richmond to Charlie Marcum and Rachel York Marcum.

Jeff was a graduate of the Union County High School in 1980.

Jeff was a member of the American Legion Post 122 in Liberty.

Jeff spent many years farming with his father on the Marcum Family Farm. He was an Equipment operator for Yankeetown Town Quarry and a Land Design Specialist at the golf course with P.B. Dye Golf Clubs. He also worked alongside Marcum and Son Trucking and Marcum and Son Logging. There were not many things Jeff couldn’t accomplish; he was a jack of all trades. Jeff could do anything he put his mind to. He was a visionary talented man.

Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He loved following his grandson’s auto racing career with Chamberlain Race Team. Jeff also enjoyed going golfing with his son. You could often find him shooting pool. He was a master mechanic and loved being behind the wheel of anything that had an engine. Jeff had many friends who will remember him fondly as a fun, always happy, give you the shirt off his back kind of guy.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Rachel Marcum, his daughter, Stephanie (Duane) Chamberlain; his son, Shelby (Amanda) Marcum; his significant other, Darlane Mahaney of 17 years and her son, Jakub Mahaney; his grandchildren, Tristan Chamberlain, Taylor Chamberlain, Derrick Marcum and Decker Marcum; his sisters, Evelyn (Ken) Marcum-Moore, Ramona (Pat) Stevens and Teresa Marcum; the mother of his children, Renada Faye Quante Hannebaum; his nieces and nephews, Brian (who was his Uncle Jeff’s shadow), Andy, Angie, Chuck and Nate; and 14 great-nieces and nephews; and a three-week-old great-great niece.  Jeff will be missed so very much by his family.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Marcum.

Visitation for Jeff was held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Urban Winkler Liberty Funeral Home, 310 N. Main St., Liberty, Indiana 47353. The funeral service began at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Jeff Adams officiating.
