Kathleen R. Cantrell

Kathleen R. Cantrell, 95, of Liberty, passed away Monday morning, February 5, 2024 following a brief illness.  She had been residing at Ambassador Healthcare, Centerville for the last few years. One of 14 children of Thadis and Sarah Gunnels Ratliff, Kathleen was born in Allegheny, Kentucky on August 26, 1928. On November 12, 1948 Kathleen married James Cantrell, Sr. in Pike County, Kentucky.  Mr. Cantrell passed away on July 6, 1998.

Kathleen was a homemaker and caregiver for her handicapped son.  In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling, reading books, working puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She leaves behind to mourn her passing five sons, James (Marcia) Cantrell, Jr. of Liberty, Charles (Wanda) Cantrell of Everton, Robert “Bob” Cantrell of Liberty, David (Sherry) Cantrell of Liberty, and Eric (Michele) Cantrell of Connersville; daughter-in-law, Carol Cantrell of Wake Forest, North Carolina; grandchildren Adam Lee (Missy) Cantrell of Oxford, Ohio, Jesse Charles Cantrell of Liberty, Matthew (Janel) Cantrell of Liberty, Sherron Wyatt of Liberty, Casey Dale (Brandon) Cantrell of Liberty, Whitney (Cohle) Garrett of Liberty, Andrew (Loretta) Cantrell of Butlerville, Nathan (Raychael) Cantrell of Liberty, Lee (Amanda) Cantrell of Hillsborough, N.C., Rebecca (Billy) Dubuisson of Mobile, Alabama, and a special grandchild, Michael Browning of Liberty; great-grandchildren, Ethan Cantrell, Emily Huber, Brian Rogers, Clara Moore, Grace and Raygan Cantrell, Carmyn Garrett, Autumn, Willa and Lane Cantrell, Lance, Abraham and Alexandra Cantrell; great-great-grandchildren, Rosie, Rosalyn, and Jasper; former daughter-in-law, Lynn (Terry) Browning of Liberty; sisters, Lena Mae Ratliff Cantrell of Ashcamp, Kentucky, Barbara Jay Ratliff Potter of Wildwood, Florida, Naomi Rosetta Ratliff Moore of Ashcamp, Bessie Jean(Bernie) Ratliff Alexander of Texas, Paula Lee Ratliff of Ashcamp, Kentucky; brothers, Thadis Clark (Martha) Ratliff of Amherst, Virginia, Timmy Blaine Ratliff of Jenkins, Kentucky, and Radford (Virginia) Ratliff of Ashcamp; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighors who will sadly miss her smile, quick wit, and her laugh! Besides her husband of 49 years, James Calvin Cantrell Sr., Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Mable Childers Ratliff; sons, Roger Lee Cantrell and Tommy Keith Cantrell; brothers, William Burns Ratliff and Thomas T. Ratliff; sisters, Elsie Lou Ratliff Massey, Mazie June Ratliff Hylton, Lois Rae Ratliff Cantrell, and Mary Ann Ratliff Maines. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home.  Terry Brwning will officiate.
