The highly anticipated opening of Rushville's newest business, the Chocolat Cafe, is almost here. However, while waiting for the official opening, the community will have a chance to come out and get a glimpse of the new business and purchase the Cafe's "sweets" during the soft opening on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the soft opening, the Cafe will only be offering sweet treats. Their specialty coffees will be available when the Cafe officially opens sometime next week. More information will be announced soon on the Chocolate Cafe's Facebook page.

The City of Rushville shared, "The Chocolat Café will bring a unique offering to our city. They are a true bean-to-bar business with international recognition. Thank you for choosing our community and welcome to Rushville!"

The Cafe shared the following note to the community on its Facebook page on Feb. 2.

"The last big case arrived! One glass shelf was shattered, and a smaller countertop case also arrived shattered…but plans are still on for a soft open next week. I've also come to terms with what I considered bad luck, broken cases, and all… it's actually just a numbers/percentage thing. I'm doing so much; not everything would be smooth. I'd probably be really worried if it did, actually. So I adjust and keep plugging away. I've been blessed to have people help me when I need it and to do what I'm doing. There are so many things I want to do here, and I am excited to officially start this journey with you!

Over the next couple of days, I'll organize the retail section you see here and discuss with Mai our schedule. It will be irregular for a few weeks. February is a crazy month for me - we all know about Valentine's Day, but that day is sandwiched between my wife's & daughter's birthdays. Now we get to add the Chocolat Cafe's opening anniversary to that! So, I will clearly post our days and hours here for that irregular schedule and always update you about it.

Please share those each time so the news gets around to everyone. That would be a big help. Thanks everyone for your patience & support!

The Chocolat Cafe is located at 1814 North Main Street in Rushville. There is no signage yet, but it's located in the shopping center behind Wendy's between Ginger and Spring and the Rent-A-Center.

Stay tuned for an in-depth story on this unique business in a future edition of the Rushville Recorder.
