Erma Marie Egner, age 100, of Peach Grove, Ohio died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at her residence  surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 29, 1923 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Marie (Downard) Anderson.  On November 4, 1942 she was united in marriage to William Egner in Little Rock. The following day, William shipped out to the Aleutian Islands for a three year tour of duty in World War II. William preceded her in death on December 24, 2008.

Erma grew up helping her parents in both their family restaurant /tavern in Cincinnati, and on their farm in Peach Grove. She often shared stories of her childhood, including her dad hitching up their horses for sleigh rides on the family farm. When William returned from the war, they began their own family, building a life of joy on the farm. Erma had a love of travel and a grand sense of adventure. She enjoyed the company of others and never knew a stranger. New acquaintances were treated like dear friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and generosity, especially when it came to her family, knew no bounds. She is loved fiercely and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughter, Johanna Sorn of Harrison, Ohio and son William L. Egner of Delhi, Ohio; her granddaughter, Alicia (Dennis) Sacksteder of Brookville; six great-grandchildren, Katarina Sacksteder, Anna Sacksteder, Josef Sacksteder, Louisa Sacksteder, Virginia Sacksteder, and Vincent Sacksteder.

Besides her parents, and beloved husband, William, she was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Christopher Egner, as well as two brothers, Tom Anderson and Louis Anderson.

Burial at Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery and a celebration of Erma's beautiful life will be held at the firehouse in Cedar Grove in the spring. Friends and family will be notified when plans are finalized.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Michael Catholic School.  The staff of Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home are honored to serve the Egner family, to sign the online guest book or send personal condolences, please visit www.phillipsandmeyers.com.
