Loren F. Cull

Loren F. Cull, 92, of Rushville, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Flat Rock River Lodge. He was born on September 7, 1931, in Rushville, to Clara May (Nighbert) Cull and Noland F. Cull.

Loren was a 1949 graduate of Rushville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, working as an instructor in the engineering school at Fort Belvoir, Va., and attained the rank of Sergeant. While stationed in Virginia, Loren met and later married Sally Ann Miller on January 3, 1955, in the First Baptist Church of Riverdale, Md.. Sally preceded him in death on October 8, 2022.

After they returned to Indiana, Loren and Sally eventually settled on a small farm in southern Rush County where they enjoyed grain farming and raising beef cattle. In addition to farmwork, Loren was also employed for 40 years by the Rush County National Bank which eventually became Wells Fargo Bank. 

Loren was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rushville, serving as a church deacon and on various committees for many years. From 1976 to 1980, Loren was a member of the Board of Education of Rushville Consolidated Schools. Along with his community involvement, Loren had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, and enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing, even past his 80th birthday! He also loved family gatherings where he often prepared his famous deep fried Cajun turkey.

He is survived by daughters Pamela (Kevin) Hoeing of Rushville, Louise (Robert) Judge of Decatur, and son, Stephen (Melissa) Cull of Rushville.

Grandchildren: 

Anne (Kyle) Tressler (IN), Joseph Hoeing (WA), Michael (Angela) Judge (OH), Daniel (Christine) Judge (LA), Benjamin (Alaina) Judge (IN), Clare Cull (IN), Cody Cull (IL), and Courtney (Alex) Hazelwood (IN).

Great-grandchildren:

Logan, Zachary, and Sophie Tressler (IN), Ezra and Scarlett Judge (OH), Harper and Jackson Judge (LA), Ellis and Coen Judge (IN), and Paisley Lightner (IN).

Loren also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents, Noland and Clara May Cull, and his brothers Darvin and Boyden Cull.

Our most grateful thanks to those at Flat Rock River Lodge and Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana who provided care for Loren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 1 pm at Moster Mortuary in Rushville, with Pastor John Wall officiating. Friends are welcome to visit from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery in Rush County. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Honor Guard, P.O.Box 276, Rushville, IN, First Baptist Church Fund or the Hopewell Cemetery Fund, both through the Rush County Community Foundation, 117 N Main Street, Rushville, IN 46173, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
