February 28, 2024 at 10:47 a.m.

George Alvin Stenger, age 84, of Brookville, died peacefully Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Hospice of Cincinnati Twin Towers, surrounded by his family.

Born September 12, 1939 in Union County, he was one of five children born to the late George W. & Lora A. (Reese) Stenger.  On February 27, 1960 he and the former Elizabeth Kolb were united in marriage and she survives.

Alvin was retired, having worked for several years at the former Fry Roofing in Brookville, and later Roots Blower in Connersville, from where he retired.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville.

In his leisure time he and Liz loved taking road trips all over the country, he refused to use the GPS because he always knew the best route!  He also loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.  He enjoyed working on his own automobiles, and never missed an oil change in his life!  He also made sure his kids and grandkids did the same.  Those who knew him will miss his signature suspenders, International Harvester hat, and his smile and spunky personality.

Besides Liz, his loving wife of 64 years, survivors include two children, son Jackie (Linda) Stenger of Brookville, daughter, Connie (Ken) Myers of Western Hills; three grandchildren, Travis (Michelle) Stenger, Kyna (Carson) Ritz, Stephanie (Akhil) Mudgil; three great-grandchildren, Eliza, Romi, Lydia; as well as all his siblings.

Family and friends may visit from 4 until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
