Joshua Alan Schwegman, of Brookville, was born on June 14, 1982 in Oxford, Ohio, a son to Vernon “Ernie” and Phyllis Amrhein Schwegman. He was a 2001 graduate of Franklin County High School and attended Ball State University and Cincinnati State. He worked in CAD drawing and was an avid sports fan – particularly of the Bengals and IU basketball. Josh was known as the captain of the St. Peter's Yacht Club, and he loved being with that group. He enjoyed woodworking, frying chicken, classic cars, swap meets, and listening to the love of his life, Shannon, sing. His other favorite music included Sammy Kershaw, Jimmy Buffett, Blackhawk and Shannon Amber. On Monday, February 19, 2024 at the age of 41, he passed away unexpectedly at his residence.
Those surviving who will cherish Josh's memory include his parents, Ernie and Phyllis Schwegman; sister and brother-in-law, Joni and Ben Goins; fianceé Shannon Jaehnen; niece and nephews, Hudson, Madelyn and Nolan Goins, and several cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Alberta Amrhein, and Orville and Marjorie Schwegman; uncles, Timothy Barry, Thomas Suding and Wayne Halcomb; one cousin, Jenni Biltz, and one of his best friends, Derik “Bub” Orschell.
Friends visited with the family on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville. Fr. Vincent Lampert officiated a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Guardian Angels Oratory in Cedar Grove with burial following in the church cemetery. Honorary pall bearers included Brian Munchel, Kyle Flaspohler, Brett Rauch, Ashley Meyer, Brett VonderMeulen, Kyle Holmes, Nick Tebbe, Ryder Orschell, Ben Goins, Hudson Goins and Nolan Goins, "he was blessed to have many friends."
