Shirley Seufert

January 9, 2024 at 2:20 p.m.

Shirley Seufert, of Brookville, was born on September 9, 1940, in Hamilton, Ohio, a daughter to Cletus S. and Clara C. Munchel Seufert.  She graduated from Brookville High School and then worked for Jay Garment.  Shirley went on to work in the recorder's office and as Treasurer.  Even in retirement she couldn't slow down, taking a job at Rosenberger's Market and then the Brookville Butcher.  She battled cancer for several years and stayed employed.  Shirley truly loved being around others and helping those in need.  She was active in the community as a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church, the Legion Auxiliary, and was involved in many aspects of the Democratic Party.  Even though Shirley's plans were to return to work after her latest health battle, God instead called her home.  On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of 83, she passed away at the Knolls of Oxford, Ohio.

Those surviving who will cherish Shirley's memory include her brothers, Tom (Laura) Seufert of Rushville, and Cletus (Mary) Seufert, of Lawrenceburg; one very special niece, Cathy Seufert, and many friends.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Seufert in 2008, and sister Betty Seufert in 2015.

Friends visited with the family on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.  A Mass of Christian burial was Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church.  Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the David Seufert Scholarship Fund c/o FCCF or to St. Michael Church.  To sign the online guestbook or to leave a personal condolence, please visit www.cookrosenberger.com. The staff of Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home is honored to care for the family of Shirley Seufert.
