Bernice Schmidt

Bernice Schmidt, 84, of College Corner, Ohio died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her residence.

Daughter of Walter B. and Anna Garnatosky Jasinski, Bernice was born on February 22, 1939, in Cleveland. She married Robert G. Schmidt and together they shared 37 years together prior to his passing on July 24, 2023. Bernice was employed at Miami University as a custodian for many years until she retired. She was an avid shopper who greatly enjoyed yard sales, auctions, and QVC. Bernice  was a selfless woman who always thought of others first. She will be missed dearly by her family. 

Bernice is survived by two sons: Daniel (Renee) Hayes of Kentucky, Harold (Susie) Cooper of Wilkinson; daughters: Cathy (Robert) Schutt of College Corner, Ohio, Carol (Richard) Adams of Camden; eleven grandchildren: Abby (Kyle) Byrd, Caitlin Hayes, Lindsey (Alex) Paczesny, Erin Madden, Seth Cooper, Katerina Schutt, Korban Schutt, Emily Cooper, Kyle Schutt, Chris Crews, and Leslie Crews; three great-grandchildren: Amelia Byrd, Benjamin Byrd, Max Paczesny, and one on the way; brother: Norman; sisters: Betty and Carol; several nieces and nephews.  

In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her brother: Richard; sisters: Dorothy, Florence, and Ruthie.

Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The College Corner Volunteer Fire Department, 112 Union St, West College Corner, IN 47003 in Bernice's honor.
