Lillie Joan Kuhlenbeck, 85, of Liberty, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Whitewater Commons.  

Joan was born June 30, 1938 in Connersville to Ralph William Cooley and Jessie Byrd. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Joan was raised by her loving stepfather, Edward L. Bossert.  She was the co-owner of the antique store in Liberty.  She also had been a real estate broker, auctioneer and Union County Trustee, Harmony Township for many years.  She was a member of the Connersville First Baptist Church.

Joan, “Gramzy,” is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 50 years, whom she recently had celebrated an anniversary with on December 22, 2023,  Roland “Ron” Kuhlenbeck; son, R. Edward Pierce of Liberty; granddaughter, Casey Jo Pierce of Liberty; sister, Ruth (Barry) Bryant of Liberty; she shared her love with and was also “Gramzy” to Stacy Williams.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Jessie Bossert; paternal father, Ralph William Cooley; brother, Bill Cooley.

Funeral service for Lillie Joan Kuhlenbeck will be Thursday, January 11, 2:00pm at Showalter Blackwell Long, Baker-Fosdick Chapel,312 W. Union Street, Liberty with Ron Demarco officiating.  Friends may call Thursday, January 11, 12:00pm – 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Point Cemetery.
