Beacon Credit Union recently donated $500 to the Varsity Scholars Program. The program honors academic excellence at Rushville Consolidated High School (RCHS).

“Although I didn’t attend RCHS myself,” said Rushville Member Center Manager Diana Marlatt, “I have heard many wonderful memories of this trip from several people including my husband and a few Beacon Credit Union employees who all attended RCHS.”

The program, founded during the 1992-93 RCHS school year, marks its 31st anniversary.

It awards qualifying freshmen, sophomores, and juniors a Certificate of Achievement. It also grants qualifying seniors with the option of a cash award or a one-day trip out of school.

“This is a once in a lifetime trip for some students and they should be proud of earning this community supported trip celebrating their successful high school career,” Marlatt said. “These memories will stay with them for life.”

The Varsity Scholars Program also honors five seniors who are the "most improved" academically from their freshman to senior year.

“What I like about RCHS’ Varsity Scholars program, is that it follows the academic success of a student for all four years,” said the Rushville Member Center Manager.

The cost of the trip is approximately $425 per student.
