Mary Charlene Shank

Mary Charlene Shank, 94, most recently of New Palestine, but previously of Indianapolis and Brookville, passed away at her apartment on January 9, 2024. Charlene was born on January 2, 1930, in Blooming Grove, the daughter of Byron and Dorothy (Nicolay) Dora.  She married her husband of 63 years, Robert “Bob” K. Shank on January 1, 1949. After 52 years together in Brookville, they moved to Indianapolis in 2001.  Bob preceded Charlene in death on April 23, 2012.

Charlene and Bob were blessed with four children that survive them: Debbie (John) Rooney, Palm Harbor Fla., Cathy (Tom) Ringham, Cumberland, Sheila (Greg) Stephens, Russiaville and Kevin (Mary) Shank, Schaumburg Ill. Eight grandchildren survive her: Jaime (Steve) McClung, Ocoee FL, Kelly (Bernd Liesenfeld) Rooney, Gainesville Fla., Nathan (Kim) Ringham, Indianapolis, Andrew (Holly) Ringham, Bishop's Stortford UK, Amanda (Kris) North, Knoxville, Heather (Kellen Stolze) Stephens, Winchester Calif., Kylene (John Langlois) Stephens, New Roads Lou. and Scott (Elizabeth) Yoo, Hampshire Ill. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren: Nora, Colin and Owen McClung, Eloise and Ramona Liesenfeld, Hank and Ella Ringham, and Karter and Drew North. Sister-in-law Marilyn Dora also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents Byron and Dorothy Dora; husband Robert Shank; siblings Viola (Harlan) McEntee, Phyllis (Roger) Huffman, and Harold Dora.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 11am to 12 noon on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home 929 N. Main Street, Brookville IN. Funeral service will follow at 12 noon.  A burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
