Lawrence Rosenberger

Lawrence “Larry” L. Rosenberger of Brookville was born on September 4, 1939 in Franklin County, a son to Howard and Bertha Ruess Rosenberger. He grew up in rural Franklin County, and attended St. Michael Catholic School and Brookville High School. The day after graduation Larry set off for San Diego where he completed boot camp and patriotically served his country in the United States Marine Corps the next four years. Upon his return he worked with his family at the former Sanitary Meat Market, Rosenberger Slaughter House and was a butcher at Rosenberger's Main Meat Market for over 50 years, until his retirement. On September 15, 1962, he married Marilyn Kuntz at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Oak Forest. Larry served our community for over 10 years as a volunteer fireman with the BVFD, and was a member of the Brookville K of C #1010, and St. Michael Catholic Church. On Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the age of 84, he passed away at UC Hospital in Cincinnati.
Those surviving who will cherish Larry's memory include his wife of over 61 years, Marilyn Rosenberger; three sons, Larry “Buzz” (Kathy) Rosenberger, Jeff (Kris) Rosenberger, and Dan (Amanda) Rosenberger; five grandchildren, Lyndsey Mundell, Kelsey (Brooke) Rosenberger, Dana (fiancé Arthur Bradley) Rosenberger, Bret Rosenberger and Grant Rosenberger; two great-grandchildren, River and Rocket; siblings, Kenneth (Myrna) Rosenberger, Carol (Marvin) Ferkinhoff, Linda (Larry) Gillespie and Bernie (Teri) Rosenberger, and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Rosenberger. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard “Dick” and William “Bill” Rosenberger as well as an infant brother and sister.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5 until 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. Father Vincent Lampert will officiate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Immediately following Mass, the Brookville American Legion Bernard Hurst Post #77 will perform military graveside honors in the church cemetery.
