Sharlene Wagner

Sharlene Wagner, 87 of Arlington, passed away January 18, 2024 in Rushville. She was born March 1, 1936 in Connersville to the late Amos E. and Mary V. (Herrmann) Strait. Sharlene was a 1954 graduate of New Salem High School. She married Theodore Wagner on August 25, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 21, 1986. Sharlene worked as a clerk at the Public Paint and Wallpaper and later became the owner. She was a lifetime member of the Arlington Christian Church. Sharlene taught Sunday school for over 20 years and formed the Widows Group. She was the state historian for the Order of the King’s Daughters and held several positions. Sharlene was very active with the New Salem Alumni. She enjoyed flowers, birds and trees. Sharlene led many Toby Bus Tours. She truly loved spending time with her family.

Sharlene is survived by her son, Theodore (Shelly) Wagner II of Nashville, Ind. and daughters, Barbara (David) Drake of Arlington and Marilyn (Chris) Bost of Knoxville; brother, Amos O. Strait of Rush County and sisters, Carolyn (Bob Bogart) Wagner and Marcia (Taz) Noon. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Anna (Zach) Rhodes, Caleb (Rachel) Wagner, Cole Wagner, Mary Wagner and Savanna (Austin) Alexander; great-grandchildren, Liam, Michael, Sophia, Garrett, Watson and one on the way. 

Sharlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Anna Jeffries and brother-in-law, David Jeffries and sister-in-law, Arlene Strait.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Moster Mortuary, with Gary Holt presiding. Friends visited Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be held in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Arlington Christian Church in memory of Sharlene.
