Duane H. Weber

Duane H. Weber, of Sunman, was born on Oct.r 14, 1928, in Manchester, Indiana, a son to Romie and Isabel Dupps Weber. He married Leitha Marie Shazer on June 9, 1957, at Sunman Community Church and she preceded him in death on December 9, 2012.  Duane owned and operated Weber’s Automatic and Transmission for 35 years and was a bus fleet owner for 50 years with Sunman Dearborn Community Schools.  He was a founding member and head deacon of Sunman Bible Church and was a trained evangelist. Duane was also a member of the NRA.  He invented several medical equipment devices which are still used in hospitals today.  Duane was a “Cold War Patriot” who produced U235 ingots as part of the Manhattan Project. In his spare time, he loved to fish, hunt, SCUBA dive and was a champion trap-shooter.  On Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the age of 95 he passed away at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville.

Those surviving who will cherish Daune’s memory include his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tony DeLisle of Sunman; one grandson, Christopher DeLisle (Ash Taylor DeLisle) of Nashville, Tennessee, and two sisters, Julene Vogelsang of Lawrenceburg and Marcia Jo Thelen of Edgewood, Kentucky.  Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Kermit Weber.

Friends visited with the family on Tuesday, July 2, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman.  The funeral service began at 1p.m. with Mike DeLisle and Mark Tanner officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman.
