July 9, 2024 at 3:24 p.m.

Calvin Leon Mitchell, 87, of Metamora passed away early Monday, July 8, 2024 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.

A son of Roy Mitchell and M. Katheryn Browning, Calvin was born in Connersville on May 19, 1937 and graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1955.

On December 29, 2001, Calvin married his long-time love, the former Deborah Ott, in Jellico, Tennessee.  Mrs. Mitchell survives.

For 27 years, Calvin was employed at Design and Manufacturing, Inc. and then 10 years at Visteon, retiring in 2002.  Recently, he opened the Neighborhood Convenience Store in Connersville where he spent most of his time.

In his leisure, Calvin enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, Debbie “Birdie”  Mitchell, survivors include three children, Tonya (Terry) Whipple, Steven (Sue) Mitchell, and Robin Mitchell Smith; grandchildren, Heather (Charlie) Howell, Tyler Mitchell, Sarah (Zach) Johnson, Bill (Tasha) Cole, Carla (Scott) Brawley, Makayla Bowman, and Katie Smith; great-grandchildren, Ally and Alivia Howell, Easton and Case Johnson, Zach (Lydia) Hughes, Jackson Cole, Nathan (Lacee) Shepherd, Dustin (Sydney) Loften, Bella and Lauren Mitchell; two brothers, Ronnie (May) Mitchell and Mike Mitchell; mother-in-law, Jean Ott; brother-in-law, Greg (Tina) Ott; two sisters-in-law, Lisa (Dave) Robinson and Lorna (Jack) Dowd; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brandon Shane Mitchell.

Debbie wishes to thank her family and especially Lisa and Dave Robinson for their generosity.  Without their gift of time and Lisa’s kidney, Calvin would not have had such a long and enjoyable life.

Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home.  Burial will be conducted in Lick Creek Cemetery at a later date.
