Barbara Ruth Rogers

Barbara Ruth Rogers, 83, of Laurel passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at University Hospital, Cincinnati.

One of five children of Charles and Geneve Hackworth Johnson, Barbara was born in Waco, Kentucky on November 6, 1940 and graduated from Laurel High School with the class of 1958.

On September 3, 1960, Barbara married Jon Wayne Rogers in Laurel.  Mr. Rogers survives.

For 27 years, Barbara was employed as a teacher’s aide for Franklin County Community Schools.  She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener and could be found in her flower bed all summer long. Friends and family would come for miles to eat her home cooking. Her work ethic was unmatched, and her talents knew no bounds.

Barbara was a member of the Metamora Church of God.

Besides her husband of 63 years, Jon Wayne Rogers, survivors include three children, Brenda Rogers, Jon William Rogers, and Greg (Joyce) Rogers, all of Laurel; four grandchildren, Shannon (Mike) Park of Everton, Gregory L. Rogers, Mike Rogers, and Jon H. Rogers, all of Laurel; eight great-grandchildren, Kylee Thompson, Nataniel Thompson, Aden, Kaleb, Benjamin, and MacKenzie Rogers, Sutton and Margot Rogers; two great great granddaughters, Corina Thompson and Palmer Robbins; two brothers,  Charles (Leta) Johnson, and Mike (Karen) Johnson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Joyce Lockwood and a brother, Ernest Johnson.   

Funeral services were conducted by Eric Hopkins at 1 p.m. Friday July 12, 2024                                                in Miller, Moster, Robins Funeral Home, where friends called  until the time of the service. Burial was in Laurel North Cemetery.
