Jackie R. Dowd

Jackie R. Dowd, 91 of Franklin County, passed away July 19, 2024 in Greensburg. He was born October 27, 1932 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late Charlie and Mallie (Hollan) Dowd. Jackie was a 1951 graduate of Raleigh High School in Ohio. He went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force for five years. Jackie was in the Korean War and served as the chief mechanic in airplane repairs. He married Chloe (Fortenberry) Dowd on April 24, 1953 and she survives. Jackie enjoyed being a farmer all his life. He worked for the federal government as an insurance adjuster. Jackie was a member of Batesville Christian Church and Rise Christian Church in Lehigh Acres, Florida. 

In addition to his wife, Chloe (Fortenberry) Dowd, he is survived by his daughter, Robbie (Leon) Lucas of Fla.; sons, Garry L. (Charmayne) Dowd of Laurel, Randy Dowd of Sun City, Ariz. and Jackie (Lorna) Dowd, Jr. of Metamora. He will also be missed by his 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 

Jackie is preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Mabel (Combs) Dowd; grandchildren, Clintin and Dustin Lynch; three brothers and a sister. 

Services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. in Moster Mortuary with Pastor Steve Kelly presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service in the mortuary. Burial will be held in Laurel North Cemetery.
