Joan M. Martin, 94, of College Corner, Ohio, died Friday, June 14, 2024, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.

Joan was born June 24, 1929, in Union County to Herschell B. and Blanche Davis Muddell. She was a 1947 graduate of Union High School in College Corner, Ohio. For many years, Joan was the Administrative Secretary to the Dean of the School of Business at Miami University. She was a member of the College Corner United Presbyterian Church. Joan was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds as well as University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball. Joan enjoyed bowling, playing cards, bingo, puzzles and tending to her flower bed.  

She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Weaver of Hamilton, Ohio and Jay D. Martin of W. College Corner; daughters, Connie S. (Ron) Schnitker of Oxford, Ohio and Tina M. Welborn of Liberty; daughter in-law: Kathy Weaver of Indian Springs, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Martin, who died in 2004; son, Larry L. Weaver; brothers, Dale and Myrl Muddell; sisters, Lois Watterson and Irma Swartz and son-in-law, Johnny Welborn. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Union County Foundation, Johnny Welborn Achievement Fund.

Visitation for Joan M. Martin will be Monday, July 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Fosdick Chapel, 312 W. Union St., Liberty Indiana. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in College Corner Cemetery.
