David Duane Merrell

David Duane Merrell, age 79, of Brookville, died Friday, March 1, 2024 at Mercy West Hospital in Green Township, Ohio.
Born September 22, 1944 in Mt. Carmel, he was one of four children born to the late Russell S. & Hazel Ruth (Sintz) Merrell. On August 19, 1986 he was united in marriage to Jane Robinson.
David was retired, having worked for much of his life in agricultural and farm seed sales. In his leisure time he enjoyed gardening and canning, as well as the outdoors.
He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church.
Besides Jane, his loving wife of over 37 years, survivors include six children, Susanna Merrell-Miller of Lebanon, Ohio, Laura Merrell of San Francisco,, David (Aimee) Merrell of Kenefick, Texas, Jenny (Travis) Merrell Hof-Hadwin of Clearwater, Florida, Brent Waddell of Naples, Florida and Brandon (Janie) Waddell of Brookville; 20 grandchildren, Tyler Merrell, Sydney Song, Averey Merrell, Emma Gomez-Chavez, Owen Merrell, Celia Schroeder, Olivia Merrell, Micah Merrell, Simeon Merrell, Titus Merrell, Isaac Merrell, Tobias Merrell, Thea Merrell, Chandler Hof, Megen Meyer, Theo Miller, Brandon King, Julianna Miller, Mercedes Waddell, Ava Waddell; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Williams of West Harrison and a brother, James (Bonnie) Merrell of Mt. Carmel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Richard 'Dick' Merrell, as well as a brother-in-law, Glenn H. Williams.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church, 4011 State Road 252, Mt. Carmel, Indiana.
Pastor Andy Zinsmeister will officiate the funeral service at 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
