Donald W. Stang, age 89, of Brookville, died Thursday March 21, 2024 at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville.

Born September 29, 1934 in Franklin County, he was one of three children born to the late Harry and Iolene (Snapp) Stang.  On September 6, 1958 he was united in marriage to Jean C. Sintz, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2008.  

Don was retired, having farmed in Franklin County, owned & operated the former Whitcomb Grocery, and also worked for the Franklin County School Corporation as a custodian for several years.  

He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church of Brookville.  In his leisure time he enjoyed being with his family, cutting wood and working outside, as well as watching westerns on television.  

Survivors include four children, Rebecca (Dennis) Kolb, Lori (Brian) Tebbe both of Brookville; Edward Stang and Jodi (Andy) Schutte both of Batesville; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Addie) Kolb, Derrike (Shannon) Kolb, David (Megan) Tebbe, Jacob (Allison) Tebbe, Brandon (Heather Hacker) Schutte, Raleigh (Liana Robers) Stang, Caleb (Haley Vandurbur) Stang; three great-grandchildren, Grant Thomas Kolb, Lainey Jean Kolb, Evelyn Rose Stang; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Stang of Brookville and Joan Stang of Kokomo.

In addition to his parents and wife Jean, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Sintz, and a brother, Marvin Stang.

Family and friends visited Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.

Randal Teufel officiated the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home.  Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
