A kind and gentle soul left this earth Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
William Eberly Paddock, born May 3, 1944, in Abington, left behind his devoted wife Teresa; son Eberly (Terri) Paddock, Centerville; daughters, Shirley L. (Greg Riffe) Paddock, Durham, NC, Shelley Jean Paddock, Valdosta, Ga., Sheila Jo Paddock, Abington; stepdaughter Jennifer (Linda McAuley) Howell, Columbus, Ohio; stepson Jonathan (Laura) Howell, Mason, Ohio, and grandsons William Eberly and Samuel T. Paddock, Abington; step-grandsons Ethan Howell, Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Dylan Howell, Blue Ash, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews, including Mark (Samantha) Conley, Centerville, Shawn (Teresa) Conley, Cambridge City and William J. (Chelsie) Buchanan, Abington.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Rife and Helen Paddock; brothers Robert and Dale Paddock; sisters, Shirley Corder and Carolyn Stainbrook; and his late wife of 50 years, Linda Pate Paddock.
Bill was a 1962 graduate of Centerville High School and earned an associate degree in electronics from IVY Tech. He served on the board of the Centerville Senior Center and the Brownsville Township Advisory Board. As a servant of his community, Bill was a founding member of the Abington Township Volunteer Fire Department, which he served for 50 years, 20 of them as chief. He was also a member of the Abington Historical Society and the Abington Christian Church. Prior to his retirement, Bill worked at Warfield Oil Company and the Dana Corporation. He was an avid birdwatcher, gardener, and woodworker.
Visitation for William Eberly Paddock was Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Abington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Abington Township Volunteer Fire Department, 4618 Pottershop Road, Centerville, IN 47330.
