Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust awards several community grants

The Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc. has awarded several grants to local community organizations. Trustees Sara Jane Moyer and Gary Stokes delivered checks to the organizations on Monday, April 29.

The Friends of the Union County Public Library have received a grant of $750 to support the Imagination Library book gifting program. On Monday, April 29, Christen Rauch accepted the grant on behalf of the Friends of the Union County Public Library.

The Liberty Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a $500 grant to purchase smoke detectors for the community. On Monday, April 29th, Jim Franklin, James Barnhizer, and Scott Keesling accepted the grant on behalf of the fire department. LVFD will distribute smoke detectors to community members to enhance fire safety.

The Union County Youth League recently received a $500 grant from the Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust. The grant will be used to construct a shed to store equipment. Jay Payne and Chad Carrell represented the Union County Youth League during the grant acceptance ceremony.

In addition to these grants, Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust recently awarded grants to nine other local not-for-profit organizations. The Whitewater Valley REMC Community Trust, Inc. trustees meet quarterly on the fourth Monday of January, April, July, and October to review grant applications.
