Florence Lunsford

Florence Henerietta Lunsford, of Brookville, was born on September 23, 1936, in Brookville, a daughter to Ohmer and Verena Schwegman Kunkel. She married Ralph Lunsford on September 13, 1958, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and together they raised three children. Florence worked for the auditor’s office and later was clerk of the courts for two terms. She enjoyed gardening and golfing and loved spending time with the family, especially her grandchildren. Florence was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. On Friday, May 24, 2024, at the age of 87, Florence passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Those surviving who will cherish Florence’s memory include her loving husband of almost 66 years, Ralph Lunsford; two daughters, Linda (George) Grimmeissen, and Lisa (Steve) Vormohr; one son, Larry (Shelly) Lunsford; seven grandchildren, Matt (Kaitlin) Grimmeissen, Eric (Kayla) Grimmeissen, Tara (Mike) Mitchell, Lauren Lunsford, Hannah (Brooks) Hofer, Jesse (Travis) Miller and Olivia Vormohr; six great-grandchildren, Lawson and Elias Grimmeissen, Tinsley and Elliot Mitchell, Bennett and Hayden Hofer and one on the way. She is also survived by three brothers, Orville “Bunk” (Delores) Kunkel, Virgil (Bernie) Kunkel and Ohmer “Jr.” (Jan) Kunkel. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Annette Kuntz, Jeanie Drewes, and Dorothy Purkey, and one brother, Lester Kunkel.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12 noon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 1207 E. Road, Brookville, IN 47012. Father Vincent Lampert will officiate the Mass and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to St. Peter’s Church or to the St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund.
