Union County senior Peityn Gillman has done it once again.

After qualifying for the IHSAA state golf championships in 2023 as a junior, the Lady Patriots’ ace will return to Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel this weekend to compete against Indiana’s best.

By virtue of her Saturday Lapel Regional round of 72 under raindrops at Edgewood Golf Course near Anderson, Gillman’s was the top individual score not connected to one of the three advancing teams - winner Noblesville (294), runner-up Hamilton Southeastern (302) and bronze medalist New Palestine (334).

The Lady Pats as a team had a strong showing in 6th place with 356, coming in under sectional foes Richmond (9th) and Northeastern (11th) and Indianapolis schools Bishop Chatard and Cathedral. Junior Nora Robinson finished at 85, sophomore Aubrey Beck at 95 and soph Melanie Goecke at 104 to round out the team final. Addisyn Lathery carded 122.

Noblesville’s Josie Kelley was regional MVP with a superb 68 and HSE’s Janelle Garcia shot 71. The host team’s AnnaBelle Marshall (74) and Tipton’s Josephine Butler (76) also advanced along with Gillman. Centerville’s representatives - Kenna Hemmerling and Emma Staton - had respective scores of 104 and 100; Winchester’s Alysa Cole shot 90 and NE was led by Lauren Lacey’s 89.

The finals are a two-day affair Friday and Saturday with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. both days and each competitor playing 36 holes. Digital tickets at $15 each are available through Eventlink. Fans can also track the tourney’s progress at bluegolf.com.

Good luck, Peityn!
