Chloe Dowd, 92 ofChloe Dowd, 92 of Franklin County, passed away on October 29, 2024 in Greensburg. She was born on March 25, 1932 in Hereford, Tex. to the late Jackson and Robbie (Conner) Fortenberry. Chloe was a 1951 graduate of Hereford High School and attended business college and met her husband, Jackie Dowd, Sr. She married Jackie Dowd, Sr. on April 24, 1953 and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2024.

Chloe was very active in the Franklin County School district; she started as a teacher’s aide and then worked as the librarian at Laurel Elementary and also drove the school bus for over 20 years. She was a member of Batesville Christian Church and Rise Christian Church in Florida. Chloe sincerely, loved being a farmers wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her techniques in the kitchen and gardening. Chloe loved hosting guests at her home and feeding her hummingbirds.

Chloe is survived by her daughter, Robbie (Leon) Lucas of Florida; sons, Garry L. (Charmayne) Dowd of Laurel, Randy Dowd of Sun City, Ariz. and Jackie (Lorna) Dowd, Jr. of Metamora; sister, Anna Kate Bradley of Hereford, Tex. She will also be missed by her 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Chloe is preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters and two brothers.

Services will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Moster Mortuary, with Pastor Steve Kelly presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11:00am until the time of service in the mortuary. Burial will be held at Laurel North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Rise Christian Church, 50 Bell Blvd N, Lehigh Acres, FL 33936 or to the Our Hospice of Southern Indiana, 2626 17th Street, Columbus, IN 47201.
