Linda Lee Richards

Linda Lee Richards, 86, of Rushville peacefully passed away October 10, 2024. Linda was born November 25, 1937 in Springfield, Illinois to William F. and Leland (Hunt) Beher. Linda attended Washington High School in Washington, Indiana through her junior year. She went on to attend Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri for her senior year and there graduated. After high school, she attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated in 1960 with a degree in dietetics. While at Boulder, she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Linda went on to complete an internship with the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. It was while there she met and married Delbert Lacefield and from that marriage came her three children, Shelley, Doug and Christi. During the fall of 1974, Linda returned to Rushville.

She married Loren (Rich) Richards June 22, 1980. With that marriage, Linda and Loren made a family which now included 10 kids. Linda worked in the field of dietetics for 30-plus years as a consultant dietician and was a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Business & Professional Women’s Group, Monday Circle, the local sorority Psi Iota Xi Chapter since 1956 and the Rushville Music Study Club. Linda loved music! She was a very talented flutist and used that talent at the University of Colorado, Rush County Players and for RCHS musical productions. She also loved traveling with Hawaii and Colorado being her favorite places. She and her husband spent many winters as snowbirds, residing in Arizona. Also among her hobbies were horseback riding and ice skating.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husband of nearly 44 years, Loren Richards, stepson, Stephen Richards and stepgrandchild Angel Marie.

Linda is survived by her children Shelley (Walter) Lamle of Piedmont, Okla,, Doug (Cindy) Lacefield of Piedmont, and Christi Peach of Evansville. She is also survived by stepchildren Greg (Joy) Richards of Noblesville, Ronnie Richards of Noblesville, Joyce (Arch) Turner of Williamsburg, Virginia, Andy (Karen) Richards of Indianapolis, Stan (Kay) Richards of Rushville, Kenny (Ana) Richards of Berlin, Germany; stepdaughter-in- law Anna Jo (Fry) Richards. She will also be missed by her 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A public graveside service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Rushville’s Calvary Cemetery with Pastor Lonny Goen. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rush County Community Foundation at 117 N.
