Thomas L. “Tom” Holland, 92, of Glenwood, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 24, 2024 at Reid Health, Richmond.

A son of Roy and Grace Brogdon Holland, Tom was born in Tennessee on July 29, 1932. Tom’s childhood move to Fayette County marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. His time at Orange High School was notable by his participation on the basketball team, which dominated the county championships for four consecutive years. This period of athletic success culminated in his graduation with the class of 1951, leaving a legacy of determination and team spirit that would inspire future generations. 

On May 27, 1952, Tom married the former Nancy Wyler in Central Christian Church and they made their home in Glenwood. Mrs. Holland passed away on December 25, 2018.

Tom’s career journey is a testament to his adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit. Starting at Philco-Ford, he gained valuable experience before venturing into his own business with Holland Standard Service Station. His dedication to this service for over two decades showcases his commitment to his community in Glenwood. Finally, his tenure at Connersville Paint Company marked the culmination of a diverse and successful career. Tom’s professional path reflects a blend of technical expertise and customer service excellence.

Tom’s leisure activities paint a picture of a man deeply engaged with his community and personal passions. His love for the outdoors through camping, appreciation for sports via golf and Indiana University Basketball, and his travels to Florida reflect a balanced and fulfilling personal life. Moreover, his involvement with Orange Community Church and various local organizations like the Eagles, Moose, and Masons demonstrates a commitment to service and fellowship. 

Survivors include four children, Thomas K. (Cindy) Holland of Glenwood, Pamela L. Stamm of Kokomo, David W. (Tamara) Holland of Goshen, Stephen E. (Kim) Holland of Connersville; eight grandchildren, Joe (Snezana) Stamm of Plainfield, Jill (Wesley) Hewitt of Kokomo, Amber Holland of Indianapolis, Aaron (Heather) Holland of Goshen, Adam (Keisha) Holland of Rushville, Andrew (Elena) Holland of Goshen, and Haley Holland of Whitestown; 10 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Samantha and Mason Hewitt, Jacob, Nathan and Matthew Stamm, Reese Holland, Brently, Charlie, and Ashton Holland; a brother, Otis Holland of Gainesville, Florida; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his wife of over 66 years, Nancy Holland, Tom was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jeff Stamm; grandson, Craig Thomas Holland; and siblings, Kenneth Holland, Lemuel Holland, Vivian May, Vernon Holland, Curtis Holland, Richard Holland, Loretta Holland, and infant Alice Fay Holland.

Private graveside services were conducted by Stan Howard in Orange Cemetery. A Celebration of Life took place at the Eagles, 800 N Eastern Avenue, Connersville, on Friday, August 30, 2024. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
