REMC announces a total of $54,550 awarded in grants

Southeastern Indiana REMC announced through its Operation RoundUp program a total of $54,550 in grants was awarded to local non-profit organizations during its first grant cycle of 2024.  There were a total of 27 recipients, including several in Ripley County.

Local Organizations included:

Ripley County Historical Society - $1,000 

Batesville Memorial Library - $1,600 

South Ripley StudentAmbassadors - $1,000 

Versailles Church of Christ - $2,500 

Oldenburg Academy Girls Basketball - $2,500 

Friends of Batesville Memorial Public Library - $2,400 

Batesville Fire Department - $2,500 

Operation RoundUp is made possible by cooperative members who voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar. These small contributions are pooled together to make a significant impact in the community, funding projects and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents in the REMC service area.  

Keith Mathews, CEO of Southeastern Indiana REMC, expressed his gratitude to the members; “It’s heartwarming to see how our community comes together to support these invaluable organizations. Each penny rounded up makes a difference, and together, we’re fostering positive change.” 

Since its inception in 2015, the Operation RoundUp program has contributed $930,831.69 to local causes.
