Rushville Classic in the books

After an hour delay from morning storms, the Rushville Classic was in full swing Saturday. The overall winner was Jake Chapman from Batesville in 16:39 for the boys and Kaylynn Bedel from Batesville in 19:56 for the girls. Division 1 team winners were Batesville boys and girls and Division 2 team winners were Hauser boys and Rising Sun girls.  

The RCHS Lions finished up in 2nd place for the day. Senior Hunter Parmerlee and junior Logan Jacobs led the Lions with a 5th and 6th place finish with bests of 17:51 and 17:56 to start the season off strong. Other scorers for the Lions were Isaac Schelle 10th in 18:40, Brody Egerton 13th in 18:51, and Hudson Schultz 19th in 19:24.

The Lady Lions placed 3rd behind Batesville and New Castle. Leading the way was sophomore Josie Corn 9th in 22:10. Other scorers for the Lady Lions were Melaney Mahan 12th in 23:16, Kendra Jacobs 14th in 23:37, Jorja Ellis 21st in 25:58, and Leyla Denney 27th in 26:19. “Both teams are off to a great start to the season,” said coach Amy Tush. “There is still much work to be done for us to reach our goals this season.”

The Lions and Lady Lions will next compete at Union City Saturday in the Coach Noff Memorial Invitational.
