Patriot boys tennis lost a close match at home vs. Oldenburg Academy last Wednesday as the Twisters prevailed 3-2.

Jackson Hertel won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while Dalton Creech and Logan Boone went three sets to win (3-6, 6-2, 6-1). Fenton Coyle fell 6-0, 6-1 at top singles and Cameron Salsbery lost in a 3rd-set tiebreak (0-6, 7-5, 8-10). Grant Cox and Isaiah Lowe at 2 doubles lost 6-3, 6-4.

FC captured a 4-1 win over neighboring UC Thursday at the Wildcat courts. UC’s lone win came at No. 2 doubles where Cox and Lowe topped Bryce Bruns and Tyler Teuschler 7-5, 6-4.

The Cats swept singles play. Tyson Rosenberger defeated Salsbery (6-1, 6-0) and Garrett Kuntz topped Hertel (6-0, 6-2). Italian exchange student Folco Cabras made quick work of Coyle at 1 singles (6-0, 6-0). At 1 doubles, the twin duo of Trevor and Ty Bruns got by Creech and Boone 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.

UC visits TEC’s Tri High today.

BHS cross country traveled to Jac-Cen-Del Thursday to compete at the county meet in some stubborn heat. Both Bulldog teams ran exceptionally well to capture Ripley County trophies, the girls finishing with a perfect score of 15 and the boys posting 23 to Milan’s 42.
